Hey everyone!
I've come across an interesting situation. I recently borrowed a laptop for work purposes, but decided to try out a Windows-specific game that I've always wanted to play - GoldenEye: Source. ;) It works beautifully and I thought about streaming it on Twitch, but the laptop is old'ish and not reliable for streaming.
This brings me to my Mac, which is perfectly capable of streaming without any hiccups. Would there be any way at all to pick up the PC source on OBS for Mac? So far, I've tried:
1) HDMI connection from PC to Minidisplay Port on Mac (no connection there).
2) HDMI connection from PC to Elgato IN with USB connection to Mac (Elgato picks up the screen, but there is no game audio).
3) HDMI connection from PC to Elgato IN with UBS connection to Mac AND HDMI out to TV (once again, no audio pick up).
4) HDMI connection from PC to TV, but I'm then stranded in terms of getting it back to Mac (works great on TV with audio as well).
I know that this might be uncharted territory (or maybe not!). In any case, any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated in terms of what the best setup (if any) exists for these two systems to exist and help one another out with the PC being the gaming computer and Mac being the streaming computer.
Thanks in advance!
Nicholas

Connect to 4K, 5K, and 6K displays
You can connect as many as four displays in these configurations:
- But in the end, Target Display Mode became an Apple-only technology that allowed Mac users to drive an iMac's display from another Mac. Still, it can be quite compelling to see your Mac mini making use of your older 27-inch iMac as a display, or for troubleshooting an iMac having display issues.
- Multi-stream enabled display products, including monitor hubs and daisy-chainable monitors, should become widely available as more DisplayPort 1.2 enabled PCs are now entering the market. “Daisy chaining” is a term that describes the ability to connect a series of devices together using a single connection between each two devices.
- Two 6K displays with resolutions of 6016 x 3384 at 60Hz
- Two 5K displays with resolutions of 5120 x 2880 at 60Hz
- Four 4K displays with resolutions of 4096 x 2304 at 60Hz
- One 5K display at 5120 x 2880 at 60Hz and up to three 4K displays at 4096 x 2304 at 60Hz
Nomad, I have a Macbook, so I don't know how accessible the MBP's video card properties are, but at least on my PCs, I can access the nVidia cards properities screen and set it up so that 2 monitors can span the picture as well as mirror it or both have identical screens.
Connect to LG UltraFine 4K and 5K displays
You can connect multiple LG UltraFine 4K and 5K displays in these configurations:
- Two LG UltraFine 5K displays configured at 5120 x 2880 10bpc at 60Hz
- Four LG UltraFine 4K displays configured at 4096 x 2304 8bpc at 60Hz
- One LG UltraFine 5K display connected to one side of your Mac and two LG UltraFine 4K displays connected to ports on the opposite side.
Connect to different Thunderbolt 3 busses
Your MacBook Pro has two busses for its four Thunderbolt 3 ports. Each pair of Thunderbolt 3 ports (on the left and right sides of your Mac) are different busses. Whenever possible, connect your displays to different busses to maximize performance. Don’t connect more than two displays to either bus. If you connect a 6K, 5K, or multi-cable 4K display, use a different bus for each of the displays.
